Japablum Editorial: Will Someone Please Give Empress Michiko a Hat That Fits?

Listen, Japan, it is ridiculous that Japablum even has to ask, but can you PLEASE give Empress Michiko a hat that fits her head? She does many wonderful things for you. She acts as honorary president of the Japanese Red Cross. She has made official visits to 37 countries (more than even Japablum!). She.....has posed for many, many photographs. And how do you repay her? By providing her with a few small scraps of fabric with which her aging ladies-in-waiting can stitch together a tiny little hat to sit awkwardly atop her head. For shame, Japan! She deserves better.

For guidance, we suggest you look to England and the hats they procure for their royals.

Look at the size of that hat. Definitely more befitting of a personage of nobility striding regally into her golden years. And not only is the hat of a sufficiently large size, it also comes with useful netting that can catch bugs, bees, and other things that might try to fly into her face as she waves to people. Talk about giving someone the royal treatment. Take note, Japan.

Japablum Editorial: Masaya Kato is a Very Handsome Man, by Japablum

The Japablum editorial board disagrees on exactly what kind of "hot" Japanese movie star Masaya Kato is. Some insist on "brutally"; others think "crazy"/"f**king crazy" while still others will settle for nothing less than "existentially." But no matter what adverb best suits one's needs and state of mind, they all invariably lead us to the same end: we all wanna hit that. And, indeed, some among us want that to hit us.

Because Masaya Kato is a very handsome man.

And in this crazy, upside-down, topsy-turvy world, we at Japblum are happy to have finally found one thing that everyone who attends our monthly editorial circle jerk can agree on.

Japablum Editorial: This is not a Sport, by Japablum

Now, we here at Japablum are manic pole smokers and speedo fanboys with rippled-abs-centric worldviews. That means we know better than anyone what makes a truly great Olympian athlete. So, in light of the recent Asian Games in Qatar, which a few short weeks ago we didn't know existed (and that you've just now found out about), we are compelled to ask: should an ununiformed person pointing a gun and shooting it be considered a competitive athlete?

The answer, of course, is no, and here's why: lifting, aiming, and shooting a gun doesn't necessitate even one trip to the men's locker room. Not one. And that, folks, means it is not a real sport.

The locker room visit is a necessary staple of all bonafide sports, and real athletes know that. Who among them doesn't look forward to waltzing into that musty, steamy, man-scented terrarium, undressing in front of his teammates, perhaps enduring a few playing towel snaps on the baby-soft bubble butt, and then strapping on the kleets and/or spandex for a little friendly competition? And then the showers. Who doesn't look forward to that?

So, to recap:

ATHLETE (hey, Craig!)

NOT AN ATHLETE

ATHLETES

NOT ATHLETES

ATHLETES

(alluringly greasy, but still) NOT ATHLETES
